Murder arrest after man's body found in pond

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man, who had been missing for five months, was found in a pond.
Richard Bentley, 55, was reported missing on 16 November and a body found on Monday off Chaseside in Littledown, Bournemouth, is thought to be his.
While officers are still awaiting formal identification, Mr Bentley's next of kin have been informed.
A 24-year-old man from Bournemouth, who Mr Bentley is thought to have known, has been arrested and remains in custody.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Richard Bentley at this difficult time," Dorset Police's Det Ch Insp Neil Third said.
"To enable us to gather as much information as possible about Richard Bentley's disappearance, and in order to provide legal protection for the individual, we have made an arrest.
"Our enquiries are continuing in the area the body was found and we want to hear from anyone who has seen suspicious activity in that area.
"We are still seeking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Richard Bentley since November 2024 to please come forward – you may have vital details to help us establish what has happened."
The detective said police activity would continue in the area over the coming days.
