Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was threatened by a knife-wielding teenager in Harrogate.

The boy, who was believed to be about 15 or 16 years old, approached the man at the junction of Slingsby Walk and St James' Drive, near Stray Rein, at about 16:00 BST on 10 April, according to North Yorkshire Police.

He pointed a knife at the man, who then began to shout to attract attention before the teenager ran off over the railway line towards Leeds Road.

The man was left unhurt, but police appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.

Officers said the teenager was described as white, slim, about 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall with brown hair.

He was believed to be wearing a black puffer-style jacket with the hood up.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson asked anyone who might be able to identify the suspect, or anyone who was driving in the area at the time and who may have captured the incident on their dashcam, to contact them.
