A hundred businesses sign up to be foster friendly
A foster scheme run by North East Lincolnshire council has seen a hundred businesses sign up since it began in April.
The scheme encourages firms in the area to support employees who are also foster carers.
Grimsby Town Football Club was the first business to commit to the scheme.
The local authority said there was still a need for more foster carers.
The Trin Community Centre in Cleethorpes has signed up to the scheme and hosted a Christmas party for foster families.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education said: "It is wonderful to see one of our Foster Friendly businesses host this Christmas event for our foster families in the area.
"All families deserve some festive cheer in their lives, none more so than our foster families."
Foster carers provide homes for vulnerable children and young people many of whom need support whilst they adjust to their new environments.
Lyndsay has been a foster carer in Grimsby for three years. Along with her husband she recently fostered nine-month-old baby twins and said she was determined to make their Christmas a very special one.
"Christmas is the time we go all out, I try and make memories for them. Each child picks a special bauble to hang on the tree."
