Investigation launched after spa chlorine exposure
BBCAn investigation has been launched after four people were taken to hospital due to excess chlorine exposure at a swimming pool and spa in Derbyshire.
Erewash Borough Council confirmed its environmental health team is working with Clifford Health Club and Spa in Regent Street, Long Eaton.
On Tuesday, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said 27 people had been exposed and 10 were showing symptoms relating to exposure, but added that none of the symptoms were serious.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the venue said the pool and spa was closed on Wednesday - despite being given the green light to reopen - to allow more time to "assess and review".
The statement added: "We did get the OK to open, but overcaution is sensible."
Fire service group manager David Diggins told the BBC there had been "a mixture of some chemicals within the systems" of the pool, which had been overfilled.
"There is no wider risk of chemicals in the area and the incident has now been fully resolved," he added.
A council spokesperson said: "Erewash Borough Council's environmental health team have commenced an investigation and are now working with the company to prevent any further risk to the public."
