Roadworks to resurface the Sydenham Bypass in Belfast will resume on Monday 6 January, the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has said.

The work began on the £3.8m resurfacing project in October but had been paused to minimise traffic congestion over the Christmas period.

The department said to minimise disruption, works will continue during weeknights and weekends.

Completion is expected by early March 2025.

The Belfast-bound carriageway will be closed between Tillysburn and the M3 on weeknights from 22:00 GMT to 06:00, Monday to Thursday.

Four weekend closures are planned, with the first scheduled from Friday 10 to Monday 13 January 2025.

The department said some weekend and overnight lane closures will also be required on the country bound lanes to ensure the safety of road workers and the travelling public while work is undertaken.

Road diversions will be in place.
