Two men arrested following the death of a wild boar have been released on bail.

The pair, aged 33 and 52, were detained after officers spotted their vehicle close to the body of the animal near Yorkley in the Forest of Dean on Tuesday.

They were arrested on suspicion of wildlife offences, drugs offences and possession of a bladed article.

"Both men have been released on bail until 24 March while enquiries continue," said a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary.

They explained officers spotted a Jeep parked on a track in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Although there was nobody inside the vehicle, there were two dogs and "equipment associated with wildlife crime inside".

Following the arrests, the Jeep, equipment and dogs were all seized.
