Wagon driver arrested after woman injured in crash

A woman, in her 90s, was left seriously injured in the crash on Railway Street

A skip wagon driver has been arrested after a woman was left seriously injured in a crash in a North Yorkshire market town.

The pedestrian, aged in her 90s, was hit by the wagon on Railway Street, Malton, at the junction with Water Lane car park on Monday morning.

She was taken to York Hospital for treatment, North Yorkshire Police said.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

The force appealed for witnesses who saw the crash to come forward and thanked the local community for their assistance.
