Eight people have been rescued from a fire in a block of flats in West Sussex.

The blaze broke out shortly before 02:00 GMT at the flats on St Cuthmans Road in Steyning, West Sussex Fire & Rescue said.

A spokesperson said the ground and first floor of the building were "significantly affected".

Four fire engines were sent to the scene but none of those rescued were thought to be seriously injured.
