A Surrey MP is on a mission to discover the best pubs in her constituency.

Rebecca Paul, who represents Reigate, has launched a quest to find out people's favourite watering holes in the town.

Her Best Pubs 2025 competition also includes Redhill, Banstead and other surrounding villages.

She said the move was to help "support publicans and their hardworking teams" in light of the "unprecedented challenges" facing the hospitality industry.

Running until 6 May, the online survey's categories include the pub that played the biggest role in supporting the community, the best pub garden and an award for the best food and drink.

There are also categories for the most family-friendly pub and the best dog-friendly venue, reported the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Mrs Paul said: "We are so fortunate that Reigate, Redhill, Banstead and our villages are home to many fantastic pubs.

"They are part of what makes our part of Surrey such a special place to live and work."

She added that pubs made an "invaluable contribution to our local communities and economy".

"They provide jobs, a sense of community and they support our local farmers and producers by promoting and selling their world class produce," she said.

Mrs Paul said she had spoken about the competition with landlords and landladies and their positive feedback had been "unanimous".

"Pubs are facing unprecedented challenges and I am determined to do all that I can to support publicans and their hardworking teams," she added.

"I hope this reminds people of all the amazing pubs we have on our doorsteps and encourages them to support their local."
