A man who threw debris at police officers during a riot outside a hotel housing asylum seekers has been jailed for two years and four months.

Dion Wragg, 26, pleaded guilty to taking part in the violence at the Holiday Inn Express, in Manvers, Rotherham, on 4 August.

South Yorkshire Police said he had been identified by member of the public after the force issued photos of a number of people they wanted to trace.

At a sentencing hearing at Sheffield Crown Court, Wragg, of Highstone Avenue, Barnsley, was also handed a criminal behaviour order of nine years and six months.

A force spokesperson said 91 people have so far been convicted for their part in the rioting at the hotel.
