Thames Water has cordoned off Swindon's Groundwell Road

A burst water main has damaged the surface of a town centre road and traffic is being redirected.

Utility company Thames Water has cordoned off Groundwell Road in Swindon, Wiltshire, close to the junction of Victoria Road.

Repairs to the road and the pipe are under way.

Swindon Borough Council has urged drivers to avoid the area while the road closure is in place.
