New festival cancelled over poor ticket sales

A music festival due to be held for the first time this summer has been cancelled due to poor advance ticket sales.
On the Green Fest in Peterborough posted on its website it had made the decision to halt the event, that was meant to feature 50 acts including Hoosiers and Phats & Small, and refund ticket holders.
"After all this due to not hitting sales needed within the time we needed to, due to the lack of support for the event, we had to make the decision we did not want to and cancel the event," it posted.
The organisers of the two-day event planned for 24-25 May said they were now looking at losses of some £30,000 having spent this amount on deposits, marketing and infrastructure.
Th event on The Embankment in the city centre on the Bank Holiday weekend was also meant to feature Liberty X.
It follows the announcement in March that the 60th Cambridge Folk Festival was being cancelled due to "financial difficulties".
Dennis Jones, leader of Peterborough City Council said: "We were notified of the decision that organisers of On the Green Festival have cancelled the upcoming event.
"While we share in the disappointment, we hope to be able to support the festival again in the future, for its debut in the city."
