Polls open for local elections in Northamptonshire

Polling stations have opened in Northamptonshire for the 2025 local elections.
People will be able to cast their votes from 07:00 until 22:00 BST.
Seventy-six councillors will be elected across 35 wards in West Northamptonshire and 68 councillors across 31 wards in North Northamptonshire.
Anyone intending to vote in person will need to take an approved form of photo ID to the polling station.
On Wednesday, North Northamptonshire Council said voting for the Higham Ferrers ward would be rearranged, following the death of a candidate.
As it stands, both councils are run by the Conservatives.
Both authorities were formed in 2021 following the scrapping of the county council and borough and district councils.
Votes will be counted on 2 May at Benham Sports Centre for the West and Kettering Leisure Village for the North.
More than 20 forms of ID will be accepted, including passports, driving licences and older or Disabled Person's bus passes.
Voters in England who have lost ID or it has been stolen, damaged or destroyed can apply for an emergency proxy vote, until 17:00 on polling day.
