Bobbie says it was "exciting" to complete her challenge with all her friends and family cheering her on

A five-year-old girl covered 50 miles on her scooter to raise money for a charity which tackles homelessness.

Bobbie, from Bebington in Wirral, achieved the feat in four weeks and raised more than £3,000 for Wirral Ark.

The schoolgirl said she wanted to help homeless people "because I want them to be able to live in a house with lovely things".

Her "very proud" mum Jordan said Bobbie's "amazing" achievement had seen her "try so hard in all weathers".

'Help lots of people'

Bobbie told BBC Radio Merseyside it was "exciting" to have friends and family cheering her on at the finish.

She said she chose to support Wirral Ark because "I like the charity... for caring about people".

Jordan said every £1,000 raised was enough to help a rough sleeper restart their lives in new independent accommodation.

"So because Bobbie has raised £3,000 hopefully we can help at least three people."

Alternatively, Jordan said the money would "just help lots of people - we don't like seeing anyone go cold".

Talking about her little girl's desire to help homeless people, Jordan explained: "Bobbie has been learning about it in school and she has always been quite empathetic to people who are on the streets and sleeping rough.

"For her to say 'I want to help these people' we just thought was amazing and we thought we'd just roll with it.

"She's done so fab and we're just so proud of her."
