A police force has said it saw 144 drivers using their phones to take pictures and videos of a motorway crash.

West Mercia Police said it was called to the M54 westbound near junction two for Featherstone, Staffordshire, at about 07:40 BST on Thursday.

The crash, between two lorries, saw one overturn and cause damage to the central reservation.

The force said all of the drivers, including 20 HGV drivers, would be contacted by officers.

It is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving, and can result in six points on a driving licence and a £200 fine.
