Armed police raided the building on Earlston Avenue in Dundee

A man has been charged with attempted murder after armed police were called to a house in Dundee.

Firearms officers were called to Earlston Avenue in the city's Whitfield area at about 12:10 on 14 March.

A firearm was later discharged by police.

Michael Ley, 34, was remanded in custody after making no plea to a single charge of assault to danger of life and attempted murder at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Mr Ley will appear in court again within the next eight days.

The firearm incident has been referred to the Police Investigation and Review Commissioner (Pirc).

A Pirc spokeswoman said: "We received a referral from Police Scotland on 15 March, 2025 in relation to the discharge of police firearms at Earlston Avenue in Dundee on 14 March.

"A full and thorough investigation is being carried out and we will report our findings to the chief constable in due course."
