A Plymouth man is hoping to have set a new record by DJ-ing non-stop for 80 hours.

Aldo Vanucci's marathon session took place from 8 to 12 January at the Depo nightclub in Plymouth.

Mr Vanucci, 54, said he went through a "real low" early in the evenings and mornings but friends helped sustain him with coffee and snacks.

The record attempt, which has yet to be confirmed by Guinness World Records, raised more than £4,000 for the charity Thinking Autism Limited.

'Muscle memory'

Mr Vanucci said: "You can wander around, but you have to play a song every five minutes, and you can only play five minutes of a song.

"So for the first couple of days, you have to watch what you eat, because you can't be on the toilet for more than five minutes."

Despite the difficulties, he said the support from friends and fans kept him going through the challenge.

He said: "Loads of local DJs turned up, lots of friends turned up to support me, and the last sort of half an hour, you're just knocking out loads of big bangers that everyone loves.

"Once there's people in front of you, it's like muscle memory."
