A vigil has taken place at the spot where a husband and wife were killed in a hit-and-run in west Dublin.

A man is still being questioned by gardai about the incident which happened near the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre yesterday evening.

The couple have been named as Anthony Hogg, 40, and his wife Georgina Hogg Moore, 39.

Four pedestrians were involved in the crash but no other injuries were reported.

People attended a vigil at the scene on Blanchardstown Road North, west Dublin

A car struck the pedestrians near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at about 17:45 local time on Thursday.

Ms Hogg Moore was pronounced deceased at the scene on Thursday evening while her husband's death was announced on Friday morning.

Officers said the driver failed to remain at the scene.

They arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the hit-and-run on Thursday evening and he remains in custody.

They have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has camera footage of the scene to contact them.
