A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire broke out at a derelict nightclub in Plymouth, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to reports of a fire on Union Street at about 16:30 GMT on Saturday 1 March.

The force said it was treating the fire as a suspected arson and an investigation was underway.

The boy, who has been arrested on suspicion of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, has been released under investigation, police said.

Police said inquiries were ongoing and it was keen to speak to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident.
