Arrest after man, 82, critically hurt at bus stop

A man has been arrested after an 82-year-old man was critically injured in an attack at a bus stop in Birmingham.

The victim was waiting at the number 74 stop on Soho Road in Handsworth, near the junction with Boulton Road, at about 15:30 GMT on Tuesday.

West Midlands Police said it acted on information from the Soho Road Business Improvement District on Thursday and arrested the 43-year-old man on suspicion of wounding.

He remained in custody, they added.

The man who was attacked is still in hospital where police say his condition is critical.

The force said it was continuing to ask for anyone with information, particularly any dashcam or mobile phone footage, to get in touch.
