A 17-year-old girl has been seriously injured after she was hit by an off-road motorbike that left the scene before police arrived.

The teenager, who was walking along the pavement when she was hit in Redditch on Monday, was taken to hospital with injuries that were potentially life-changing.

The bike was described as a white "pit bike" with black wheels and a loud exhaust.

West Mercia Police, who believe the road is pedestrianised, said it was thought the rider and passenger on the back may also have been injured in Alcester Street at about 20:15 GMT.

Officers have appealed for the pair to come forward.

Anyone with information or who saw what happened is asked to contact the police.
