Police are still searching for burglars who broke into footballer Jack Grealish's home a year ago.

The England and Manchester City star's home was targeted as he played in a 3-1 win over Everton on 27 December last year.

Officers were called to his house in Cheshire at about 21:50 GMT. Grealish's partner and family were at home at the time but unhurt.

Cheshire Police said no arrests had been made but "enquiries remain ongoing at this time".

The force refused to comment on speculation the gang may have fled abroad.

Grealish's partner Sasha Attwood and members of his family had gathered at the lavish property for Christmas celebrations at the time.

They heard a disturbance and raised the alarm while Grealish was still playing at Goodison Park stadium in Liverpool.

Jewellery and watches worth £1m were stolen, according to The Sun newspaper.

A police search was carried out, supported by dogs and a helicopter, but officers failed to find any suspects.

Grealish, 29, and his partner had only moved into the house just days earlier.

The £100m player said he was "devastated" by the "traumatic experience".

"My family mean the world to me and nothing is more important than ensuring their safety," he wrote on Instagram.

The City winger has said he hopes the gang are caught and brought to justice

The former Aston Villa captain said: "I am just so grateful that nobody was hurt."

He added: "The people that commit these terrible crimes have no idea of the damage they cause to peoples lives.

"I hope they are found and brought to justice so no other family has to go through what we have."
