A 31-year-old man has been charged with a public order offence, after protesters gathered at a Boxing Day hunt parade.

The event took place in Lewes High Street, East Sussex.

A total of eight arrests were made during the parade.

Police said a 17-year-old boy, a 25-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 50-year-old woman detained on suspicion of public order and assault offences had each been given a community resolution order.

A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated offence has been referred to the youth offending team, while another 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of a public order offence has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A 34-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence was released without further action.

Organisers of the parade said it operated "within the parameters of the law".
