Stranded Air ambulance leaves beach after days

The air ambulance helicopter has been stranded on a beach in Essex for the past two days

An air ambulance stranded on a beach for three days due to technical difficulties has finally moved, a charity confirmed.

An East Anglian Air Ambulance first landed on Jaywick Beach, in Essex, on Sunday after being called to the area.

The charity's Cambridge-based H145 helicopter, known as Anglia Two, has now been taken to Clacton Airfield after being unable to take off for three days.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We're pleased to update you that as of 16:00 BST this afternoon the aircraft has been relocated and is no longer on the beach."

A spokesperson for the air ambulance said they were trying to "repair the issue as quickly as possible"

A back-up helicopter was still being used while repairs took place, they added.

The spokesperson continued: "G-HEMC, our Cambridge-based helicopter, has been situated on the beach at Jaywick for the last three days as a result of a tail rotor hydraulic leak."
