Work is set to start soon on a major refurbishment of Bridlington Central Library.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the ground floor of the building would be fully refurbished and refitted with equipment including 3D printers, embroidery machines and the latest game design software.

The refurbishment is being funded through a £250,000 grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport's libraries improvement fund and about £200,000 from the council.

The library is due to close on 29 March, with work expected to be completed in the summer.

The ground floor will be remodelled, with dedicated areas for groups and activities, as well as a health and wellbeing area.

The junior library will be moved to the rear of the building and will feature a sensory area.

Nick Coultish, the council's cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: ''By enhancing our library's facilities, we are creating a welcoming space where everyone can learn, grow and thrive together."

The adult learning centre will remain open as usual during the refurbishment.
