A teenage boy and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the chest in Northampton.
Police said the 29-year-old was attacked on Monarch Road, off Kingsthorpe Road, on Wednesday evening, between 18:30 and 18:45 GMT.
The man was rushed to hospital in Coventry, where he had emergency surgery. He was said to be in a stable condition.
Armed police arrested the 17-year-old at an address on Lutterworth Road and the woman was detained at a property on Balfour Road, as part of an attempted murder inquiry.
Temporary Det Insp Colin Bowers, from Northamptonshire Police, said investigations "continued well into the evening" and would continue throughout Thursday.
He said: "This was a very serious attack where a victim suffered life-threatening injuries and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward, including anyone who may have dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at around the time of the attack."
