Man left in critical condition after assault
Police are appealing for "potentially important" witnesses to come forward after a man suffered a serious head injury in an assault in Westerham.
Officers were called to reports of a man being punched on Fullers Hill, next to the Westerham Club, at about 23:50 GMT on 20 December.
It followed an earlier verbal altercation between two groups in Market Square, said Kent Police.
The victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Five men were arrested following the incident and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police said they want to hear from a group of people who were standing next to a pedestrian crossing before the incident and who walked in the direction of the disturbance when it happened.
Two men in the group had dark clothing and white trainers, another was wearing a body warmer and a fourth had a beige jacket, while a woman with them had a long tube style skirt, Kent Police said.
The force also urged residents, businesses and drivers, who may have been in the area, to check for relevant CCTV and dashcam footage.
