Man critical after two-car collision

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after two cars collided in a village near Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a collision between a silver Smart Fortwo and a silver Volkswagen estate on Kingsforth Lane in Thurcroft at 16:20 GMT on Tuesday.

A 58-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries, while a 60-year-old man sustained minor injuries, the force said.

The road was closed between the junctions for Morthen Road and Newhall Lane to allow for investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
