People are being encouraged to discover Lincolnshire's "hidden gems" by making the most of a weekend of discounts on days-out and tours.

The Discover Lincolnshire Weekend is being organised as part of Visit England's annual English Tourism Week.

It runs this Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 March.

Karla Odlin, of Destination Lincolnshire, said the aim was for people to "really get to know our county".

She added: "Visitors and residents are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity, to explore the jewels in Lincolnshire's crown as well as its hidden gems.

"Discover Lincolnshire Weekend is a chance to really get to know our county, whether you're a seasoned local or new to the area.

"This year's weekend is going to be a fantastic celebration of the variety of experiences and attractions that Lincolnshire has to offer."

Among the attractions taking part are Doddington Hall and Gardens, and Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.

There will be free children's entry at Gunby Hall, discounts on cake and hot drinks at Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery, and a free history tour at Cogglesford Watermill.

Elsewhere, there will be free guided walks with East Mercia Rivers Trust and Horncastle History and Heritage Society, as well as a range of free activities at Lincoln's Cornhill Market.
