Councillors are to be asked to back a recommendation for a local authority's new interim chief executive.

Sharon Wroot has held a number of senior roles at North East Lincolnshire Council since joining in 2010.

If approved, she will take over from Rob Walsh, who is stepping down at the end of May.

Ms Wroot paid tribute to the outgoing chief executive and said he had "set a path that I, along with my colleagues, will continue to follow and grow".

"I take great pride in the work of everyone within this authority who, along with partners and stakeholders across business and the community, have a true focus on the transformation of our place while at the same time improving opportunities for all our residents," she said.

Ms Wroot, an accountant, has held the posts of chief finance officer, executive director of place and resources, and deputy chief executive in the authority.

Council leader Philip Jackson said: "I am delighted that Sharon is being recommended for the role of interim chief executive.

"Her interim leadership will allow us to take stock, continue our work and importantly give us time to look at the very best future for North East Lincolnshire in the long term."

The appointment is subject to a vote by the full council.
