Driver jailed for running man over in a rage

A driver has been jailed for deliberately running a man over in a rage.
Nottinghamshire Police said Vincent White had a grievance against his victim and drove his Ford Focus straight at him in Southchurch Drive, Clifton, on 3 November 2023.
The 34-year-old sped up, mounted a pavement and knocked the man, in his 40s, over, the force said.
White, of Clarewood Grove, was jailed for three years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, on Tuesday, after admitting causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Police said the man suffered multiple broken bones but was able to stumble into a nearby property as White sped away from the scene.
He was later arrested and told police he had felt a "rage" inside him when he saw the man, with whom he had previously argued.
After the hearing, Det Sgt Chris Mavers said: "White saw a man he had a grievance with and in a rage took the decision to drive straight at him.
"The victim was fortunate not to have been even more seriously hurt given the force of the impact.
"It is also fortunate no other road users were harmed by this reckless and dangerous act."
