Man guilty of GBH over stabbing

A man has been convicted over an incident where a man was stabbed several times.

Hassan Hussain, 25, of Nye Bevan Close, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a 42-year-old man was stabbed on Manzil Way in Oxford on 13 March 2024.

Hussain previously pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a knife, but was found not guilty of attempted murder and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.

He will be sentenced on 11 April.

Two other 25-year-old men - Shahroz Ali Khan of Mortimer Road and Bilal Khan of Abingdon Road - were found not guilty of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ali Khan previously pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property and will also be sentenced on 11 April.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said the victim suffered "significant injuries" to his abdomen, forearm and hand, and went into the nearby mosque after the incident, where he received first aid and an ambulance was called.

TVP lead investigating officer Det Ch Insp Krista Thompson called it an "appalling attack".

"Hussain inflicted an extreme level of violence, leaving the victim with serious injuries," she said.

She urged anyone with information about knives or violence in Oxford to contact the force.
