Three people have been arrested following a disturbance in Leeds which saw a man assaulted and another man stabbed.

A 53-year-old man was found with non-serious injuries by police called to a disturbance at a property in Hill Crest, Swillington, at about 21:14 GMT on Monday.

A few minutes later, a 26-year-old man was found with stab wounds on Temple Avenue in Rothwell. Both incidents were subsequently found to be linked, officers from West Yorkshire Police said.

The two men, along with a 25-year-old man also found in Rothwell, have been arrested on assault and wounding charges.

The disturbance at Hill Crest also saw damage caused to a property and a vehicle.

The 53-year-old man injured in the incident was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, West Yorkshire Police said.

A force spokesperson said the 26-year-old stab victim found in Rothwell was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which were "serious but not life threatening".

He remains in hospital and has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

A 25-year-old man found with the stab victim in Rothwell was also arrested, officers said.

The force has appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward and said a linked scene was in place in Wakefield Road, while an investigation takes place.
