A new sports, wellbeing and community hub has opened in the former Brickfields Sports Centre in Plymouth.

Developed and operated by Plymouth Argyle football club's Argyle Community Trust, the Hub at Foulston Park is part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment of the site.

One of nine wellbeing hubs in the city, the Trust said it offered a gym, physical activity programmes, mental health support, youth and veterans' programmes and life-skills training.

Mark Lovell, Trust chief executive officer, said the facility was "something incredibly special" designed to support all members of the community to lead "happier healthier lives".

The hub was developed after public consultation, and aims to to be a friendly and welcoming space.

"It will be a safe place for everyone, from young people looking for somewhere to socialise, to families seeking affordable activities and older adults wanting to meet new friends and stay active," Mr Lovell said.

"We look forward to seeing it come to life and the community making the most of everything it offers."

The development of the hub also involved Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Albion RFC and Devonport Community Leisure Limited.

Plymouth Argyle plans to develop the rest of Foulston Park, which would include athletics facilities, football pitches and a permanent home for their woman's and youth teams.

The club said the development is due to be completed in late summer 2026.
