Man, 83, dies and house damaged in fire

An 83-year-old man has died after a fire at a house in Ceredigion.

He died at the scene in Drefach, near Llanybydder, after emergency services were called at about 12:20 GMT on Wednesday, Dyfed-Powys Police said.

Police described the damage to the two-storey property as extensive.

The force and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MWWFRS) are investigating the cause, but said it was not being treated as suspicious.

The house was well alight when firefighters arrived, but they were able to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjoining property.
