A drive-thru McDonald's restaurant has been approved to be built on the site of a bingo hall.

Hull City Council's planning committee voted unanimously in favour of plans to build the fast food outlet on Oslo Road in Sutton Fields.

The plans have previously sparked opposition, with bingo players expressing their concerns.

The agent for McDonald's, Lichfields, said the new restaurant was expected to create 100 new jobs.

There will be 25 parking spaces at the new site, with vehicles able to access from a new junction on Oslo Road, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The plans state there will be two accessible spaces and two electrical charging spaces.

In addition to the on-site parking spaces, an agreement has been made between McDonald's and the owner of the land north-west of the site to provide a further 14 parking spaces, taking the total to 39.

A Lichfields representative told the committee: "Since 2022 and prior to McDonald's' acquisition of the site, Buzz Bingo has occupied the building on a short-term lease that is due to expire next year.

"McDonald's has kept Buzz Bingo informed in relation to its plans for the site whilst they have been looking for their own new premises."
