Next phase of roadworks programme to begin
A five-week programme of roadworks, costing £645,000, begins in Burton-upon-Trent on Monday.
It is the second phase of a highways scheme in the town, which began last year.
Highways engineers are due to reconstruct the A511 Horninglow Road North, from the junction of Farm Road to Tutbury Road.
It will mean some road closures and temporary lights.
Staffordshire County Council described the road as "one of the town's key routes" and said the project would include the full resurfacing of both the Field Lane and Calais Road junctions.
The work will begin with the cleaning of gullies and repairs to footpaths, kerbs, tactile crossings, ironworks and drainage systems.
This phase will require temporary traffic signals between 07:30 and 16:00 and is expected to be completed on 31 January.
Resurfacing will then begin in early February and last two weeks, with sections of the road being closed in phases.
Parking may also be restricted.
Keith Flunder, the councillor responsible for roads in the area, said the work would "make a real difference for everyone who uses this important route".
The first phase of works cost £900,000 and involved the resurfacing of Horninglow Road North from the junction of Horninglow Croft to the junction of Farm Road.
