Improved public areas with runway views have been proposed at Jersey Airport.

Ports of Jersey (PoJ) said the plans would improve on the sites' arrivals and parking areas in front of the terminals, with new space being created by the dismantling of the former hangar.

If approved, a new area would be made for hire cars closer to the terminal and a better waiting area would be created for people waiting for the bus.

Airport director Ashley Maggs said she hoped passengers would "enjoy the public areas we are creating for them".

'More open space'

She said: "The dismantling of the former hangar has enabled us to rethink the whole arrivals experience for our passengers.

"As people exit the terminal, there will be more open space with views of the runway and sheltered places to wait for onward transport."

Ms Maggs said they hoped a new area for hire cars would attract new hire car operators to increase the number and types of vehicles available.

New cycle storage could also be built and an "improved cycle route" to the airport.

PoJ said a planning application would be submitted "in the coming weeks".
