Rescue dog moved 100 miles in search for new home

A "gentle giant" rescue dog struggling to find a new home has been moved more than 100 miles in an attempt to increase her chances of being adopted.
Tess, an eight-year-old mastiff cross, spent a year at the RSPCA's Great Ayton Animal Centre in Middlesbrough after arriving there in December 2023.
Despite becoming a "firm favourite" with staff, the centre said Tess only attracted a "handful" of enquiries, none of which had been suitable.
The RSPCA said Tess moved to its Preston & District Branch rehoming centre in Ribbleton, Lancashire, on 6 December.

Unfortunately, the "good-natured" dog, who was given up by her original owner due to her size, has not yet received a single enquiry.
Preston Animal Centre manager Ashleigh Kay said: "Tess is a really lovely gentle giant so we can't understand why there continues to be such little interest in her."
The centre said Tess can be strong on the lead at times, and will need a family who are able to continue training her.
Tess will need to be the only pet in the household and can only be rehomed with people aged 16 or over.
