Car crashes into house and 'firearm discharged'
Police are investigating after a car crashed into a house and a firearm was discharged during an incident in Sheffield.
Officers have been searching the area outside the property on Blackstock Road in Gleadless Valley since the collision on Wednesday evening. The car caused extensive damage to the house involved.
South Yorkshire Police said: "This was originally treated as a road traffic collision but further enquiries now suggest a firearms discharge took place at the same time as the crash.
"Enquiries are ongoing and a scene has been re-established at Blackstock Road while our officers work at the scene."
The incidents have been linked by police after "further evidence" was recovered, but there have been no reports of any injuries.
Det Insp Claire Moss said: "I understand news of this incident will cause concern among the local community and, while we are still in the early stages of our investigation, I want to make it very clear that we are working extremely hard to bring those responsible to justice.
"Gun violence has absolutely no place in South Yorkshire. It won't be tolerated.
"Our officers will be patrolling the area over the weekend and I would urge anyone who has any questions or concerns to speak directly to them. They are there to help and keep you safe.
"We're now appealing for anyone with information to come forward and report it to us. We're particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant video footage which could help our enquiries.
"Were you in the area on Wednesday night? Do you have home CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage that could help our enquiries? Even the smallest piece of intelligence from you could prove vital as we piece together what happened."
