'Take care' warning amid highest tide of the year
BBCPeople in Jersey are being urged to take care on the coast with the highest tide of the year so far.
The sea was due to reach 11.9m (39ft) at 08:40 BST on Monday, although the coastguard said the exact height could change due to the weather.
Tim Hilditch, a duty watch officer for the coastguard, said there should be no direct impact on sailings from the port as arrivals and departures were planned around the tides.
He said those visiting the coast should "do so with caution" because the tide could rise at a "quick pace".
Fishermen are "very familiar" with the tidal cycles, and will plan their work around the times the strength of the tide is at its weakest, Mr Hilditch added.
People fishing at low water are also advised to fish in company and let someone know where they are going and when they are due back, as well as giving themselves plenty of time to return to shore.
