Boy, 11, arrested over 'assault of shop worker'

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested over the alleged assault of a shop worker.

Officers were called to a store in Ladysmith Road, Grimsby, on Wednesday at about 16:00 GMT.

It was reported that a group of youths attempted to steal items before fleeing in the direction of Pasture Street.

Humberside Police said the boy was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assault and remained in custody.

The shop worker's injuries are not thought to be serious.

The force has asked witnesses, or anyone who has CCTV footage taken in the area, to get in touch.
