Alderney States announce chief executive departure

The States of Alderney has announced the unexpected departure of its chief executive, Theo Leijser.

The island's government did not supply a reason but said Mr Leijser "would not continue in his role following the Christmas break".

His departure follows the resignations of both Policy and Finance Committee chair Nigel Vooght and States Member Bruce Woodhead in December.

The States said deputy chief executive, Elizabeth Maurice, will take on the role of chief executive pending permanent recruitment to the post.
