Burst water main disrupts island supplies

Homes and businesses on the Isle of Wight have been left with low pressure or no running water overnight after a water main burst.
Southern Water said the problem near Golf Links Road, Sandown, was affecting those in the PO36 9 and PO36 8 postcodes.
The company said its engineers had worked through the night to find and fix the main. It said "barring any unforeseen problems" the repair should be completed later on Tuesday.
Tankers have been brought in to pump water into the system leaving Beachfield Road closed as a result.

Southern Water said it had delivered bottled water to its priority service register customers overnight as a precaution.
