People in Cornwall are being reminded to check the location of their polling station before elections next month.

Elections for Cornwall Council and town and parish councils take place on 1 May.

The council is reminding voters to make sure they know where they need to go, and to check they have a valid form of photo ID.

Polling cards have details of designated polling stations, and the information can also be found on the council website.

Voters do not need to have polling cards with them to vote, and all polling stations will be open between 07:00 and 22:00 BST on the day.

Accepted forms of ID include passports, driving licences, government issued older or disabled person's bus passes, blue badges, defence identity cards and  Identity cards bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram.

Photo IDs can still be used if they are out of date but the name on the document should be the same name used when registering to vote.

If people need help casting their vote at a polling station, they can take someone to assist or ask the presiding officer for help.

There will be large print versions of the ballot paper available and a tactile voting device to help blind and partially sighted voters complete their ballot paper at all polling stations.
