Rouge Bouillon closed for urgent repairs

Rouge Bouillon in St Helier will be closed to traffic on Thursday evening for "urgent repair works".
The Government of Jersey said Rouge Bouillon would close from 18:30 to 23:00 BST because a "new road surface depression" had been identified. The government said it had been "vigilant in monitoring" the road after a sinkhole was discovered in 2024.
Its Infrastructure and Environment Department said the closure was only a precautionary measure to protect public safety.
"It is anticipated that the repair works can be completed tonight", it said.
The department said the new depression did not present any immediate danger, but the decision was taken to repair it without delay out of "abundance of caution and to prevent any deterioration".
It said: "The works are located near the site of the December 2024 void but are outside the area where recent stabilisation works were completed.
"Once tonight's works are complete, we will continue to monitor the area closely to ensure it remains safe for public use.
"We understand this may cause inconvenience and thank islanders for their continued patience and co-operation."
It said access to La Pouquelaye would be maintained, eastbound traffic would be diverted via Midvale Road and Val Plaisant and westbound traffic would be diverted via Val Plaisant.
