Overnight closures for busy town centre route

A busy thoroughfare in a town centre will be closed overnight across three weeks for improvement works.
West Northamptonshire Council said the Lower Mounts A4500 in Northampton would be shut from 20:00 to 06:00 for work including resurfacing and improving road markings.
The closed stretch will cover the junction of St Michael's Road to Abington Square and York Road to the junction of St Edmund's Street.
The closures will take place between 24-29 March, 31 March to 4 April and 7-11 April.
A signed diversion route will be in place and the council said access for residents, businesses and emergency services would be "maintained where possible".
However, the authority warned that "prolonged delays are to be expected".
Bus stops on the affected section of the A4500 will be suspended during the work.
