A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck in the face with a machete at a park.

The victim, in his 20s, was hurt after he was approached by two men in Victoria Park in Tipton at 20:30 BST on Saturday, said West Midlands Police.

The force said officers remained in the area on Monday.

"We're carrying out extensive inquiries," a spokesperson said.

"We understand this is a worrying incident and we would urge anyone with concerns to speak to officers.

"If you saw what happened or have any information which could help our investigation, please call us."
