Teenager on trial for attempted murder of boy
A 16-year-old boy has gone on trial at Lincoln Crown Court accused of trying to kill another teenager.
The youth is alleged to have attacked a16-year-old boy in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, last July.
Lincoln Crown Court heard the victim suffered wounds to his throat and chest and was taken to hospital and placed in an induced coma.
The accused denies a charge of attempted murder and also denies a second charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Jurors were told the defendant had made threats to kill the boy in a video call with a girl.
During the call, the victim was seen lying unconscious on the floor from alcohol while the accused could be seen holding an unbroken beer bottle.
It is alleged the defendant had already made a threat to slit the other teenager's throat and told the girl "his future is in your hands", the court heard.
A short time later, it is alleged, she received a message which read "it's on you".
Prosecutor Stuart Lody said police who arrived at the scene in the early morning of 28 July heard a noise that sounded like the howl of a dog.
"They saw a body lying next to a hedge," Mr Lody said. "The body was laying face down and a scooter had been placed on top."
Officers saw blood and were so concerned that they placed the victim into the recovery position, he added.
Jurors heard the accused teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, had already pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of unlawful wounding.
"He has accepted he was the person who carried out the attack and he has accepted he wounded the victim," Mr Lody explained.
The prosecutor told jurors they would have to decide the state of the defendant's mind during that night.
He said they would hear witnesses alleging the accused was "ranting and raving".
The trial continues.
