"High demand" at household waste recycling centres has led to the temporary closure of three sites, Lancashire County Council has said.

Burnley, Altham and Haslingden tips are closed, with no reopening date given.

The authority said it followed "recent good weather and many people having spring cleans", and has asked people to plan their visit for a quieter time to avoid queues and delays.

The council said there had been high demand at all 16 of its waste recycling centres and that other sites could be closed at short notice.

The council said it would update its Facebook page when the waste recycling centres reopened.
